Hello, World! Let’s Build Something Useful.
Translating complex tech into tangible, everyday solutions for a more productive life.
Hi everyone, and welcome!
If you’ve spent any time navigating the world of technology and AI lately, you might feel like you’re drowning in information. Between the constant “game-changing” hype and abstract concepts, it’s incredibly difficult to figure out what’s genuinely useful. I’ve also noticed many friends and family having a hard time understanding what all the latest and greatest AI features actually mean in their lives. More importantly, they struggle with how they can genuinely get value out of them.
Well, I created this Substack because I’m genuinely tired of the fluff. I wanted a corner of the internet focused entirely on practical, applied examples of how we can actually use this technology to make our lives better.
Who Am I?
I’ve spent my career in the Bay Area tech world for over a decade. My professional journey has been deliberately diverse, spanning from being a hands-on engineer managing world-scale, complex production systems, to becoming a product manager specializing in developer platforms to make engineers and data scientists more efficient at releasing world-scale applications and solutions. Nowadays, I spend a lot of time focused on how developers can use and simplify AI to build the next generation of solutions.
This background, blending a strong technical foundation (Computer Science from Waterloo) with product and business insight (MBA from Berkeley), is reinforced by my practical experience earned through trial by fire. Beyond the degrees, I am a Systems Thinker.
I love taking big, messy, intimidating problems and breaking them down into small, solvable components. I see modern technology, especially AI, not as a magical black box, but as a set of modular tools and components, like digital LEGO building blocks, that we can combine in new and novel ways to build useful solutions.
What You Can Expect
This is my personal Substack, driven by my own experiences using technology. My goal is to share what I’m building and learning from my personal life, step-by-step, to inspire you to find ways to apply these powerful tools for your own personal benefit.
We’ll get our hands dirty with real-world projects. I will always focus on the “how-to” so you can learn exactly how I built something.
Tech News Analysis: Explaining the latest tech trends in layman’s terms to provide anyone with an understanding of what’s actually happening behind the headlines.
The “How-To”: Sharing the exact products and configurations I use, and the specific problems they help me solve.
Custom Solutions: Exploring how I approach building tailored applications to solve specific personal needs.
Workflow Automation: Building modular systems that streamline information and maximize your productivity to reclaim valuable time.
This is a place for practical curiosity. My mission is to make this powerful technology accessible to anybody, regardless of their technical background.
While comments are disabled, I genuinely want to hear from you. If you have questions, feedback, or a particular problem you’d like to see broken down, please feel free to reach out via LinkedIn.
Thanks for taking a chance on this space. Let’s start building!
